Start with Sky Islands.

  1. Number 1: Sky Islands

    Buy this first

Adds: A two-sided board of floating islands, seven new races, seven new powers and a storage tray.

Fixes: Lets a 6th player join and adds new land to fight over.

Top pick in reviews. Adds lots of races plus a 6th player while keeping the same feel.

Usually a better fit for a different kind of group — still fine if it sounds fun.

    Expansion3–6 players
  2. Number 2: Power Pack #1

    Worth it

Adds: Eight races and eight powers from the old Be Not Afraid and A Spider's Web packs, plus a storage tray.

Fixes: More race and power combos, so games feel less repetitive.

Good pick if you just want more races and powers. Replaces two older mini-expansions in one box.

Usually a better fit for a different kind of group — still fine if it sounds fun.

    Expansion2–5 players
  3. Number 3: Power Pack #2

    Worth it

Adds: Eight races and ten powers from Cursed!, Grand Dames and Royal Bonus, plus a storage tray.

Fixes: More race and power combos, so games feel less repetitive.

Good value: three old mini-expansions in one box. Pick it after Power Pack #1 or instead of it.

Usually a better fit for a different kind of group — still fine if it sounds fun.

    Expansion2–5 players
  4. Number 4: Tales and Legends

    Worth it

Adds: 54 Event cards; a new event changes the rules each round, and you can see next round's event.

Cheap and changes every round in a fun way. Better for players who already know the game well.

Usually a better fit for a different kind of group — still fine if it sounds fun.

  5. Number 6: The Lost Tribes' Crusade

    Depends on your group

Adds: Free rules PDF for solo and 2-player games against the Lost Tribes, run by simple rules. Uses the pieces already in your box.

Free to download and plays with the pieces you already own. Grab it if you play alone or with two; skip it if you always have three or more.

Usually a better fit for a different kind of group — still fine if it sounds fun.

  6. Number 7: 6-Player Board

    Most groups can skip

Adds: A two-sided 6-player team map (Small World on one side, Underground on the other) with team rules and extra tokens.

Fixes: Lets six people play in teams of two.

Out of print, and used copies now sell for well over $100. Only hunt it down if you often play with exactly six and want team play. Sky Islands also takes six players and is still sold.

You need Small World or Small World Underground.

Usually a better fit for a different kind of group — still fine if it sounds fun.
